Dianne’s sporting participation and achievements started with Little Athletics in Brisbane during primary school years with placements for discus throwing, shot put, long jump and hurdles. She recalls being amongst the first of groups to run on the newly built tartan track in Brisbane.
In late primary school years Dianne enjoyed T-ball then softball, playing softball into high school and then adult years.
Whilst attending Nanango State High School she was scouted and approached to play for Queensland. It was determined however that she was 9 days too old and was saddened to have missed that opportunity.
Dianne relocated with her family to her mother’s family home town of Warwick where she attended Warwick State High School. Sadly, softball was not offered at the school.
In her 20’s she came across others whom had moved to the township already experienced in the game interested in playing softball on a regular basis.
She organized the incorporation of The Warwick Softball Association whilst employed at Maxwell & McMeniman, a local law firm and became the first secretary of the club.
During her involvement with the Warwick Softball Association she also coached and managed a mixed softball team known as ‘Misfits’ and played A Grade for ‘Phaze One’ and ‘Diehards’.
Her favourite positions on the field were pitcher, short stop and centre field but she was able to fill any position.
She played both A and B Grade.
Dianne was introduced to indoor cricket in Warwick around 1986 receiving her first trophy that year.
She played competitively for a decade before having a baby receiving her last trophy in 1995.
During that time Dianne played for Indoor Cricket Clubs in Warwick, Allora, Nambour and Super League participating in ladies and mixed teams on the Darling Downs.
She received numerous trophies for team and independent achievement and acknowledgment.
